Barcelona's New Head Coach;Quique Seti'en

Quique Seti'en has been appointed the new manager of FC Barcelona until June 2022.Barcelona sacked their previous coach Ernesto Valverde. The Blaugrana were initially eager to appoint Xavi as coach but the Al-Sadd Manager stated any return to his former club will only happen in the summer.Seti'en was a talented midfielder for Racing Santander ,his hometown club.He spent eight years there and scored 43 goals in 205 appearances in his time there. He went on to clubs like Atletico Madrid and Logrones, retiring at Levante. The 61 year old started his coaching career to start at Racing and also had managerial careers at Poli Ejido and Logrones .He went on to be national coach of Equatorial Guinea .He also trained Lugo for 5 years. The Spaniard then took on the reins of Las Palma's ,whom he rescued from relegation in his 1st season and led them to an 11th placed finish in La Liga.A second season at Las Palmas led to them securing an European qualification. His impressive work at Las Palma's led to him becoming permanent manager of Real Betis in 2017.In his first season he returned Betis to Europa League and led them to a sixth place in La Liga.In his second season he led to the team progressing to semi finals of the Copa del Rey but they were defeated by Valencia. He then suffered Europa League elimination at the hands of Rene's and Betis lost its momentum in La Liga. The decline led to him leaving the club.He is well known because of his possession based football -favouring 4-2-3-1 formation and putting emphasis on attacking. His favoured style is similar to Barcelona legend-Johan Cruyff-someone he has long admired. Seti'en told The Coaches Voice in 2019,"I remember when Johan Cruyff's Barcelona came along. You played against them ,and you spent the whole match running after the ball.I said to myself; This is what I like.I would like to be in this team and know why this is happening. How can you get a team to have the ball permanently ,so that the opponent is running after it for the whole match? From then on,I started to make sense of what I had felt throughout life ,through my career.I started to really watch football .To analyse it.To understand what I felt, what I wanted to put into practice when I became a coach."In a twist of fate ,he has appointed manager of the club where his style of football was born.
